Skål International Brazil

Motivated by the experience and good international friendships gained during their travels, a large group of professionals led by Jules Mohr, Florimond Volckaert, Hugo Krafft, Pierre Soulié and Georges Ithier founded the Skål Club in Paris on December 16, 1932.

The idea of international friendship among tourism professionals grew and by early 1934, there were 12 clubs formed in five countries. This led to the creation of a partnership that brought together all the clubs, with the aim of fostering goodwill and friendship in the Travel and Transportation sectors worldwide.

The 'Association Internationale des Skål Clubs' (AISC) was created on 28 April 1934 at the Hotel Scribe in Paris at a General Assembly of 21 delegates representing 11 clubs plus two observers from London. Together they elected the Executive Committee, under the chairmanship of Florimond Volckaert.

The origins date back to 1934, when some representatives of Parisian travel agencies and transport companies visited Scandinavia, more precisely the city of Malmoe (Sweden). The warm atmosphere created by Nordic hospitality transformed into bonds of great friendship between the members of the group and their hosts.

Upon their return, the French sent their new Scandinavian friends messages of thanks, using the expression Skål, before signing. Amidst this atmosphere of good fellowship, Florimond Volckaert, the group's leader, gathered his peers from that trip for lunch in Paris – at which time it was decided to form an entity that would perpetuate that spirit of friendship and cooperation.

Since then, there has been a constant evolution of the values present in the corporate environment of the travel and tourism market and understood as a strategic vector for sustainable development.

SKÅL Internacional Brasil was founded on October 20, 1955, when a group of pioneering entrepreneurs founded SKÅL São Paulo during a meeting at the Hotel Jaraguá.
